Shore Excursions

Of the unlimited number of shore excursion possibilities, we have compiled a list of the most popular excursions for student groups.

Nassau:

Blue Lagoon

Paradise is found! Imagine yourself on a private, secluded island surrounded by white sand beaches and pristine crystal clear water.

On this excursion you will:

  • Find out why world famous Blue Lagoon is Nassau's most popular tour destination.
  • Begin from the Prince George Dock aboard the Calypso or one of her sister ships.
  • Depart on a scenic 45-minute cruise through Nassau Harbor on your way to Blue Lagoon.
  • Have the opportunity to rent aqua cats, tubes and paddle boats or just enjoy the serenity of being in paradise.
  • Bask in the sun, listening to the live Calypso band and swim in the sea.
  • Enjoy the Sea Garden grill restaurant, featuring a full lunch and beverage menu at reasonable prices.
  • Use the island's modern amenities such as fresh water showers, changing facilities and bathrooms.
  • Enjoy a relaxing scenic boat ride back to the ship at the end of your day.

Note: For guests' safety, the snorkel area may be closed due to adverse weather conditions at the discretion of the Tour Operator.

Athol Island Snorkel

Yellow tail snapper, Grouper, and other tame fish make this an outstanding snorkel excursion for recreational divers and snorkel enthusiasts alike.

On this excursion you will:

  • Take a specially designed snorkel boat to the Athol Island National Marine Park at the eastern end of Nassau Harbor.
  • Explore, with your knowledgeable guides, the wonders of the pristine coral reef and its inhabitants.

Note: All equipment will be provided for you on the snorkel boat.
Snorkeling is conducted in water approximately 15 - 20 feet deep.
Not recommended for children under 8 years.

Cozumel:

Dolphin Encounter

Take this opportunity to meet the bottle nosed dolphin, one of the ocean's most amazing creatures, up close and personal.

On this excursion you will:

  • Be transported to Chankanaab National Park for a short orientation.
  • Enjoy approximately 30 - 40 minutes on a platform with the dolphins.
  • Touch, pet and learn all about the behavior of the dolphins.
  • Take time to roam about Chankanaab Park's beautiful beach, lagoon, botanical garden, and ruins.

Note: This is an encounter program, not a swim with the dolphins program. Bring your swimsuit and towel.
Minimum age is 3 years, full rates apply to ages 3 and above per park policy.
Not recommended for pregnant women, only waterproof cameras are allowed in the water at the time of the encounter.

Tulum

Experience the ancient Mayan paradise kingdom rising high above the magnificent crystal blue Caribbean Sea.

On this amazing excursion you will:

  • Begin with a 40-minute ferry ride to Playa Del Carmen to board an air-conditioned bus.
  • Take an informative, narrated one-hour ride to Tulum.
  • Be escorted by your guide through the walled Mayan city.
  • Visit the castle situated on a 40 ft. bluff, the Temple of the Frescos known for its detailed carved figures of original paints and writings, the Temple of the Descending God, the House of the Chultun and the House of the Columns.
  • Experience the breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea from the towering cliff.
  • Make your way back to Playa Del Carmen for a private ferry back to Cozumel.

Notes: The Mexican government will collect $5 - $8 U.S. from guests wishing to take a video camera into the ruins. No tripods or professional video equipment are permitted.
This excursion is not recommended for wheelchair guests or those with walking difficulties.
An operational shuttle from the bus to the ruins entrance is available for $1.50 U.S.
It is recommended that you wear comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes. A Light Snack is included.
Infants, ages 0-3, participating in this shore excursion must have a ticket purchased for them.
There will be an optional drop off in downtown Cozumel for those of you who wish to shop before returning to the ship, in this case, you will be responsible for your transportation from downtown to the ship.

Playa Mia Beach Break

Enjoy a fun-filled worry free day at Cozumel's finest beach club.

On this relaxing excursion you will:

  • Board an air-conditioned bus at the pier for a short ride to Playa Mia Grand Beach Park.
  • Enjoy the white sand beach, turquoise waters, a fresh water pool, beach chairs, umbrellas, hammocks and ping pong tables.
  • Be served your favorite soft drink or cocktail from the domestic open bar and enjoy the buffet, plus there are three restaurants at an additional cost.
  • Try the kayaks, hobiecats, pedal boats, water trampolines, and the incredible "water iceberg" all included in the price.

Note: A beach towel, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended. Rough sea conditions may deter the use of some water apparatus.

Xcaret Ecological Park

Visit Xcaret Eco-Archaeological Park, one of the most important natural theme parks in the Americas.

On this excursion you will:

  • Board a ferry in Cozumel for a 40-minute ride to Playa Del Carmen.
  • Take a 15-minute scenic ride to the park.
  • Take a Mayan swim as you float for 30 minutes on the surface of an underground river.
  • Swim in the lagoons, natural pools, channels and cenotes.
  • Explore the underwater archeological site; visit the museum of Mayan Cities, the aquarium, and butterfly pavilion or the bird-breeding aviary.
  • Eat lunch such as fresh seafood, authentic Mexican dishes as well as snack bar items at one of the many restaurants on site.
  • Head back to Playa Del Carmen and catch the ferry for your return trip to Cozumel.

Notes: Guests are responsible for the cost of their own lunch. There will be an optional drop off in downtown Cozumel for those of you who wish to shop before returning to the ship, in this case, you will be responsible for your transportation from downtown to the ship.
Entrance fee into the park includes some of the attractions.

Catamaran Sail and Snorkel

What better way to enjoy the beautiful island of Cozumel from both land and sea aboard a 65-ft. ocean catamaran.

On this excursion you will:

  • Sail off the coast of the island and snorkel the area's pristine waters.
  • Swim among fantastic and colorful fish.
  • After snorkeling, enjoy complimentary beer, margaritas or sodas.
  • Make your way to one of the island's beautiful beaches.
  • Have access to beach volleyball, sea kayaks and beach floats, all included.
  • Return to the ship after your beach party.

Note: Minimum age is 8 years old.
Remember to bring a towel and sunscreen.

Key West:

Catamaran Sail and Snorkel

Set sail on the 60-foot catamaran Fury to your snorkel adventure at one of the many beautiful reefs in the area.

On this excursion you will:

  • Get expert instruction as well as all the equipment necessary for your snorkel experience.
  • Snorkel Key West's surrounding waters teeming with dolphins, flying fish, and America's only living coral reef.
  • Enjoy refreshments as you watch the Key West coastline unfold on your return to the ship. Note: Sailing time is approximately 1 - 1.5 hours.

Historical Trolley Tour

You won't want to miss this one-hour narrated excursion of over 100 historical points of Key West and all of its eccentricities.

On this fascinating excursion you will:

  • Climb aboard a trolley bus or the unique Conch Train to begin your journey.
  • Pass such famous landmarks as Ernest Hemingway's home and museum; the Audubon House; the infamous Harry S. Truman retreat, "Little White House"; and the famous marker indicating the southern-most point in the continental United States.
  • Choose, at the end of the excursion, to take your own tour around town or return to the ship. Note: Wheelchairs can be accommodated with a lift, please advise the Shore Excursion Manager on board.

Grand Cayman:

Grand Cayman Snorkel Tour

Discover why Grand Cayman is famous for its spectacular array of marine life and coral formations.

On this excursion you will:

  • Explore a live reef and one of the many shipwrecks that Cayman is famous for.
  • See colorful fish and the various other marine life that the live reef supports.

Note: All necessary equipment and instruction is provided for you.

Stingray Sandbar, Hell, and Turtle Farm Experience

Experience all the major highlights of Grand Cayman in one excursion.

On this comprehensive excursion you will:

  • Visit world famous 7-mile beach and the old Homestead for a photo stop.
  • Tour the Turtle Farm, a one of a kind facility that is home to thousands of turtles.
  • Arrive at the town called Hell, featuring a pre-historical rock formation that some think hell must surely look like.
  • Stop at Stingray City for a boat ride out to the Sand Bar.
  • Hold, pet and feed the stingrays in shallow waters (3 - 4 feet).

Note: Snorkel equipment, food to feed the stingrays and fruit punch are all provided for you at no extra cost.
